Achievements
  • Weekly, monthly, seasonal and annual rainfall, dry and wet spells, their initial and conditional probabilities of occurence, climatic water balance, length of growing season and its characteristics were derived based on data for 30 years for the scarcity zone, and sub-montance zone in Maharashtra.

  • Drought management strategy, sustainable yield and value index(in monetary terms) were worked out for pearl milet crop.

  • In studies on crop-weather relationships for pearl millet, grain yield was regressed with rainfall, maximum temperature, evaporation, afternoon humidity, radiation use efficiency at different phenophases. This may lead to development of yield estimation based on weather conditions at different growth stages of the crop within the season.

  • Crop-weather calender for pearl millet with suggested agricultural operations in relation to weather conditions in the growing seson upto harvest was formulated.

  • Yield-moisture adequacy indices relationships were derived from field experiments on winter sorghum crop.
