Achievements

  • A good agromet data base for eastern Uttar Pradesh has been developed. The data base has been critically analysed to assess the agroclimatic features of the region and an agroclimatic atlas of ester Uttar Pradesh is being prepared.

  • Detailed studies on water use, heat use and radiation use efficiencies of wheat, rice and pigeonpea genotypes during different phenophases have been carried out and  the efficient genotypes for the region were identified.

  • Weather-pest/disease relationships have been worked out in respect of various pests of pigeonpea, wheat and rice. The threshold limits of temperatures and relative humidity and sunshine parameters for different pest/disease incidence have been quantified. Disease forecasting equations developed based on these studies are being used in agromet advisories.

  • Phenology and thermal time requirements for completion of different pyenophase of growth have been worked out for wheat, rice and pigeonpea crops. The information is being used for validation and modification of dynamic crop simulation models for adoption to local conditions.
